If you've been following the news, you know how traumatic the world can be. What you might not realize is that trauma can lead to significant health and mental issues. In fact, it can lead to a disorder known as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD. This disorder can turn your world upside down. Unfortunately, it's not easy to recognize when you're suffering from the disorder. In fact, you may just feel as if you're dealing with normal issues that have no resolution. However, that's not the case. If you've experienced a traumatic event in your life, help is available. If you're not sure you have a problem, here are five signs you need to look for. If you're experiencing any of the signs described below, you need to consult your doctor.

You're Struggling with Anger Issues

If you've been struggling with anger issues that you just can seem to control, it's time to get help. PTSD can lead to feelings of anger and irritability. In fact, you might get to the point where you have trouble controlling your outbursts of anger and frustration. If your anger issues developed after your traumatic event, you need to talk to your doctor. You could be suffering from PTSD.

You're No Longer Able to Sleep

Traumatic events can interfere with your ability to sleep. You may find that you're unable to get to sleep, or that your sleep is interrupted on a regular basis. You may notice that your dreams have become more vivid, and that they often involve the trauma you experienced. If this is the case, it's time to get some professional help.

You're Feeling Disconnected from Your Loved Ones

If you've experienced a traumatic event in your life, and you no longer feel as close to your loved ones as you once did, you may be experiencing PTSD. One of the problems with PTSD is that it can make you feel disconnected from the world, especially those who are closest to you. If you've found yourself shutting yourself off from your loved ones, it's time to get help.

You Can't Let Go to the Traumatic Event

If you find yourself reliving the trauma on a regular basis, and you can't seem to get past it, no matter how hard you try, you could be suffering from PTSD. PTSD makes it impossible to move past the trauma, creating a situation where you become locked into the situation. As a result, you may no longer feel safe.

You Are Experiencing Chronic Pain

A traumatic event can also cause chronic pain. This pain can be anywhere--your back, neck, head, etc.--and often occurs even after you feel that you have mentally overcome the trauma. If you have had chronic pain anywhere in your body since the trauma you experienced, you may be suffering from PTSD and may be in need of chronic pain treatments

Don't let PTSD take control of your life. If you're having trouble moving past the traumatic event in your life, you need to talk to a mental health professional. They can help you develop the tools you'll need to overcome the trauma.

About Me
Creating A Healthier Life

After struggling with my health for years and years, I realized that something had to change. I stopped relying so much on my multi-vitamin, and started spending a lot of time eating right and exercising. It was really strange to see how much those simple things affected my body, and before I knew it, I was feeling so much better. I also worked with my health provider to choose a plan that worked for me. He also uncovered a few medical issues I didn't realize I was suffering with, and it was great to start things off on the right foot.
